Forward 2009

2009, is almost here and in my heart I hear the old anthem of the church!

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war, with the cross of Jesus going on before. Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe; forward into battle see his banners go!

At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee; on then, Christian soldiers, on to victory! Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise; brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.

Like a mighty army moves the church of God; brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod. We are not divided, all one body we, one in hope and doctrine, one in charity.

Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane, but the church of Jesus constant will remain. Gates of hell can never gainst that church prevail; we have Christ's own promise, and that cannot fail.

Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng, blend with ours your voices in the triumph song. Glory, laud, and honor unto Christ the King, this through countless ages men and angels sing.

Find a Need & Meet it

I believe the Gospel can be summed up in one sentence, "Find a Need and Meet it"...

Most of us understand that the concept of gift-giving came from the wise men's visit to the childhood home of Jesus. However, the majority of society seldom seizes the opportunity to give our own gifts to Christ. Maybe, some of us never even knew the potential to actually give Jesus a gift existed. If so, then I would like to introduce you to a life-changing concept.

Jesus once stated, "...if you have done it unto the least of these you have done it unto me." How incredible it is to think that when we clothe the naked, feed the hungry, care for an orphan or even visit an in-mate, we are actually bestowing gifts upon Jesus!

This Christmas season, remember once and for all the actual Reason for the Season. I invite you to join me in returning to the discarded values from which the concept of Christmas was first instituted into our culture. May the Holy Spirit grant us the grace and prosperity to search out the less fortunate and find the true joy of life. May we live out the reality of Scripture's finest principle, "It is more blessed to give, than to receive..." as we find needs and meet them!

Just a heads up that there haven't been any new posts because I am still waiting to hear back from the contractor.

I'll let you know something as soon as possible...

Little Debbie

Debbie Burt, the 21-year old mother of two, whom we have all been praying for, became an incredible source of inspiration for HPC this Sunday. During the 9am service she made a surprise appearance. Less than a month ago she was quarantined in the marrow-donor section of the Markey Cancer Center at UK hospital. Now she is home with her family and amazingly able to attend church. She is far ahead of schedule. This a testimony to the power of prayer! She is an incredible warrior and I challenge you to continue to pray as we sit ringside for one of the most significant miracles any of us have ever seen.
